The res will match up to 2560 or whatever it is if you use the correct Apple cable. It won't match Retina though.

That's the problem, these monitors were 1080p not 1440p so don't match any of the iMacs.

Anyway, they're sold now so no longer an issue :)

Oddly I don't think Apple's own standalone display is Retina yet so even THAT wouldn't.
