Personally I get a little tired of their spamming on the screen all the time - it alarms my mother and others who had an install. I recently cancelled my subscription - though they had already charged the $200 (when I started it was US$60 a year!) 60 days earlier than the date specified on the subscription renewal reminder I received. Thankfully they did acknowledge this and refunded me but not before going thru instant 60% discounts to try and keep "a long time customer"

Just got over all the popups. Used to stand by it. I go with Malwarebytes now.

Hence my comment.  My wife's church has it installed and it does that all the time.  I told her when the current license expires  I can install NOD32.  No popups.   We use it at home on multiple PC license and have  dine for about 15 years

I don't understand... I don't see any popups at all.

So, as mentioned, you can cancel auto renewal at any time ?

Says so above and on all their websites.

No problems applying US stuff here in NZ ?

You can use at any time - I think my existing annual thingy expires early next year.

I have in the past bought from US site, but not for a few years.

Had a quick squiz at Amazon. The download code versions say USA only. Other versions don't seem to have this restriction. Weird. Good pricing though.

I've found turning that setting off doesn't stop the spamming. Norton, Trend, AVG, Avast, McAfee - IMO are all far too annoying, heavy and invasive.

I like Eset...but good old Defender is not all bad these days either for a free option.

Same here. This did not stop the "offers".

In my opinion, the hate is unwarranted.

Its not as bad as it once was . Just my biased opinion .
There did used to be the issue of auto-renewal via CC and being so hard to cancel the auto-renewal . Many got a surprise when it auto renewed, charging the CC  after they had removed it .

I'd bet the Buseness/Ent product is completely different to the home user product though

I dont panic when I see it on clients PC's, if its been paid for I leave it on there , and recommend they ring me before renewal.

Then again, any AV / security product that bundles in crypto mining, then takes a large cut of the proceeds   ..... just what is their mindset now ?

Symantec Business and Enterprise was sold to Broad back in 2019.

IMHO you're nuts to install 3rd party antivirus software.  It's been shown many times to increase the attack surface on your PC, not reduce it. Doesn't matter which vendor, they've all pretty much been shown at one time or another to have holes an attacker can drive a bus through.

I'm a firm believer in the "Defender is Enough" mentality - and endpoint security products like Clownstrike.
