Wake up... at 12:20am? Why were you asleep during work hours?

I just threw mine in the bin after if failed (and in the process woke me at 12:20am)
Twenty Minutes after midnight, it started playing all the sample alarm sounds at full volume. Pulled out the power plug and it has never worked since so discarded.
I understand the Lenevo has a reputation for unreliability and that is not what is needed for a clock and alarms

not sure about the clocks, but Lenovo has long held a reputation as the maker of "the most reliable" laptops (thinkpads).
I've purchased a Smart Clock first gen (new) off of ebay from the UK.
Eva888: My Google nest hub 2 is in the kitchen and staying there. Does it make sense to get another the same for the bedroom to use as a clock radio and can you run both on the same account? Seems around the same price as a Lenovo clock.
Yep, makes total sense if you ask me; as I argued in an earlier post (above), they make superb clock radios.
We only went with the Lenovo Smart Clocks over the Nest Hubs for our kids as we didn't want them to be able to watch videos on them.
And, yep, it's just a matter of adding it via the same Google account, using the Google Home app. You can share any device with others in the household as well (eg, all our GH devices - and we have one in every room bar the garage [yep, including bathrooms!] - are shared amongst our family group consisting of us parents and the kids).

What did you pay for it, if you don't mind saying? I checked out the link above to a TM auction, where they wanted close to $150 which is a complete rip given that's more than the cost of the far more capable Nest Hub 2.
Did you happen to check out your local JB Hifi store prior? While they're not on their website anymore, as mentioned at the top of the thread my local store still had them in stock and the price was definitely below $100.

about $60 for the clock and $30 for postage +GST - so more than the first gen is worth - but I really wanted to avoid a screen in the bedroom.
Don't have a local JBHifi where I am and had done a pretty thorough search for availability of over the last week or so.
There was a new (first gen) one listed on trademe for $40 but a must pickup in Wellington (which I couldn't do). Asked if they were firm on the must pick up but the listing closed without response.
Eva888: Does the echo dot clock display stay on all the time or does the display turn off after a few seconds. Is it readable from a distance of say 3 meters and does it play radio?
Pity that google don’t seem to have a clock display on nest minis for those with google assistant but I have read that the echo dot can integrate with Google HA so am also interested in the dot since the old clock radio has finally died.
It can do what you program it to do, I use night mode which, in the dark, dulls the clock to an orange colour that I find is very readable at a distance, but not bright enough to keep you awake.
Or you can go for a 'Do not disturb" setting that basically make the display very faint and only observable from very nearby and only if you look closely.
According to the blurb it "allows you to wake up to your favorite song, radio station or even a personalized news bulletin" but I have not used it in that mode, preferring instead to have a slowly increasing level of musical alarm.
One very useful feature I required was to be able to turn off the alarm silently (so as not to disturb my wife on early starts) and this can be done by touching the alarm display and turning off the alarm before it rings. Currently looking at using with the Samsung SmartThings V3 (thanks for the hint Michael Murphy) to see how wide a range of devices I can integrate with it -especially smart cameras and lights.
Hope that helps

Honestly all I need is a thing that will run an alarm (ignoring the weekends) and play the radio (at the moment lenovo is playing iheartradio after the alarm is stopped.
Yeah. I'm in the same boat. Just want a clock and something to turn the lights off. Don't really want a screen if I can help it.
You could just use your mobile by allowing the Google Assistant to always listen if you wanted. Otherwise I can recommend the Nest Hub. I talk to this thing every night to turn my lights off, turn the fan on, check the weather, set my two dozen alarms etc... It also tracks how you sleep, which was odd at first but is quite interesting. I hardly ever touch it, it just sits there as a clock.

If I wanted my mobile in the room, then why wouldn’t I just use that as an alarm? Apart from not having a clock face to look at wry eyes, no glasses to see the time.
Yeah if the lenovo dies then I'd probably go google nest. I did like the lenovo because it wasn't pure google...and did have a physical microphone cutoff.
I suspect the issue I have is google assistant and probably not lenovo (that the alarm doesn't have an indiviudal to pretend to be, so it skips teh salutation and events for today)
