I have located 3 of them, will test over the weekend and then offer them up.

If you want a more modern option that is supported then the wiim mini is a great replacement and has its own app and doesnt rely on casting and the problems that brings.

Wiim has Spotify connect, Airplay 2, Tidal connect and plenty of others. It really is good, it's even better with an external DAC.

Yeah the problem I have with the analog out on the mini is that to keep the Europeans happy it has a power down time so it goes high impedance and then you get loads of noise coming out of the amp connected to it. An external dac sorts that out and doesn't have to be a flash one. The one inside the mini sounds great, but with getting background noise when its idle makes the minis DAC unusable if you leave the amp running all the time.

Never noticed that problem with the chromecasts. My first wiim amp arrived yesterday and it seems as good as people say, will probably get some more to swapp the wiim mini split to a few seperate amps out as funds and needs allow.

Yeah the problem with the Wiim Mini is it doesn't have Chromecast support, and the Wiim Pro is considerably more expensive. Sure chromecast has its flaws but if you have an existing network of chromecast devices and you want multi-room/grouping, then the CCAudio is a much more suitable device

I had all the problems with multirooming the chromecasts and them just dropping out - with just one of them casting worked mostly OK so long as I ensured the phone never left the wifi network and came back onto it like if I was walking around the property.
