Hi there

I don't know if this is the best place - but I couldn't see a more approrpriate one. I need some help with a web site. It's a long story which I won't go into here - but my requirements are fairly simple. My wife and I have been using HTML since the days of CompuServe. We've even adapted to CSS. We've been working with a CMS but have hit some issues and are contemplating abandoning it and going back to more basic stuff.

So we're looking a consultant to advise us on some issues, and help us particularly with the Linux side of things (pretty much a black box to us). If you think you might be interested let us know and we'll talk further. We want to ensure we control our website as it is a crucial part of our business - but we need help in some areas. We generally prefer advice to actual help - but there are some components we expect to contract out.

Well, the current site uses ordinary HTML / CSS. I wanted to add some stuff, and a friend / client said he'd help - if I would use Joomla. I've had a year out with a health issues so this has been on hold. Recently another website (not a business one) reinforced my concerns with doing it all on-line. I'm comfortable with developing off-line, then when ready upleading. This other project hiccough has concerned enough me that I've halted it and trying to think what to do.

Once I finish Joomla - or decide to use my existing site - I then want to add security so people have to give me an e-mail to access the latest year or two. That way they get a brief monthly email about the latest newsletter and also a monthly webinar.

Then I'm thinking of building an annual questionnaire for accounts I do - but that's another whole project. The thing is we want to do a lot of the basic stuff ourselves - but know nothing about more advanced stuff - like Linux, etc. So I need initial advice. Then I need to plan my first system mod. Then I need someone to do the stuff for it. Then we talk about next steps.
