Need a cheap laptop that runs windows so I can have a program running over night 7 days a week. I don't want main PC to be running all night and most of day as it is now.

Only real reequirement is wifi, oh and that it actually works :)

Pricewise, well I can get a new netbook for $450 but really don't want to spend much at all so if anyone has an old one lying around thats cool. Don't really care about battery as it will spend most of its time on AC.

Does it have to be windows?? Is there a Linux equivalent of the software you're running.
A Raspberry Pi would be ideal for 24 x 7 operation.. small footprint, no noise, low power consumption.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

I'm pretty sure its windows only but to be honest I'm not 100% sure, I do know it won't work on Android.

I'll check when I get home as it maybe a cheaper alternative.

Thanks

You must have a minium spec though? A P4 with 512MB ram running windows xp I presume wouldn't be enough?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 with a Core 2 Duo T5250 CPU. It has a slight crack, no functioning optical drive and it can't charge the battery. Other than that it works fine and has a webcam, HDMI and TV output, etc.

I also have a Dell Latitude D620 with a Core 2 Duo T7200 and nVidia Quadro NVS 110M GPU. Everything works fine, it has a functioning DVD-RW and ~1 hour battery life as well as a docking station and stand.

I'll offer the 1525 for $150 with 2GB RAM and a 80GB hard drive or the D620 with the same for $200.

I'll offer 4GB RAM instead of 2GB for an extra $40, a 160GB HD instead of 80GB for an extra $20 and an internal Dell Wireless 1395 card (802.11b/g, works fine, both laptops have the internal aerial for it) for an extra $30. I only have one each of these last three.

Let me know if you're interested.
