Hi all,

I am going to get UBF installed, does anyone what the job to fit the Chrous approved patch panel (you need to supply it) and wring from the panel to the points in the house - the points are already existing with home lan wring so it shouldn't be a huge issue.

Email me if you are interested

Chris

He wants someone to install the patch panel and do the house internal wiring. This should be in the offers and wanted forum, but might get better results in this forum as AFAIK XNet is the only ones offering services over fibre.

His English is from the future, like his car ;-).

It's not the english, my understanding is to blame.

I am going to get FTTH.
I need someone to install the internal cabinet (patch panel) inside my garage. (the outside wall has the present Point of entry for the POTs line) - this is how Chorus advises it should be done.
From the patch panel - need to run CAT5e to each point in the house (6x) - thats referred to 'the star config?'

Is that explained better?

Hi, understand now, give GZ user Coffeebaron a call, I used to do this work in the Wellington region, not any more, but I am sure there are plenty of installers in Auckland, good luck

Also need to consider exactly how many points do you need. These days most things are suitably served by WiFi, but you do need to ensure that your primary PC location (office) is cabled, as are your major AV locations where you will want to stream stuff to, and a location that will give optimal WiFi coverage

No the english is poor due to my understanding, however if you asked me to write something I actually know more about, it's 'queen english'

That is why you guys help people like me out :)

You don't need a patch panel and wiring to meet the TCF wiring regs for a UFB install. If you do have a structured cabling system it will make life easier if you have multiple devices though.

What would an install like this be worth? I understand it will vary on house etc but is it 2k, 3k or even 4? I would like to do this myself but I am extremely lazy.

I am in Wellington if this helps.

Really depends on how hard it is to run the cables. E.g. if you have a raised floor and it's all on the bottom story then it would be easier than a concrete slab.

Depends how far you want to go... how many rooms, how many jack points, etc
