Hey guys

I have an iphone 4 that is a little faulty :P

I have had it for about 2 years. No warranty. The sale is only for the iphone and charger it self.

The iphone has 2 problems:
- Speakers do not work. I don't know why but the speakers stopped working several months back. The dont work for music but seem to work fine for ringtones and speaker phone during a phone call.

- The home button stops working. This just started happening recently. There are times when the home button stops working and it starts opening voice control.

The iphone was jailbroken but is not anymore. It is using the latest ios firmware.

Offers wanted Guys :) Questions welcome

Out of warranty replacement from Apple would be your best bet. I think its around $300 but you could be cheeky and try to get them to replace it under Consumers Guarantees Act.

Probably has a dirty or stuck headphone jack - that will stop the music to the speaker.

If you can't hear people on calls using the internal speaker I would hazard a guess to say it could be the audio IC. If you can hear people on the earpiece speaker and it does ring but no music, I would say it's the dock connector thinking an accessory is plugged into it. The home button issue is a common fault on the iPhone 4 as well as the IC. The IC isn't a cheap repair though! Go hard on the CGA!

Make sure you actually know what you're talking about first, a lot of people misunderstand it and will get laughed at when they demand things on the spot.

Of course do as much reading as you can as to the responsibilities and expectations of each party.

See these problems all the time, i would suggest forgetting about the CGA because when they open up your phone the moisture indicator on the dock connector will be as red as santa's suit and will likely refuse any claim.

Hey guys.

Pretty much forgot about this thread but good news has come :D

So i took economics at school and did know about the CGA, but to be honest i never though i would use it.

Firstly when i called them up they took my serial and imea for the iphone 4. Which bought up my devices info. They said my iphone was out of warranty by 302 days and cant do anything. They were basically about to hang up, when i said hang on and explained how NZ consumer law effects this situation. They basically transferred me to a senior person who then transferred me to another country, Singapore i think.

Anyway, i explained for the third time what the situation is and about CGA. She said she will call back in 2 days. She called back the next day and told me they are making a one time exception and are going to replace my phone.

I sent my current iphone in a box that was couriered to me by apple them selves to Sydney just last thursday. It was delivered to them yesterday and today i get an email a replacement has been sent.

I would like to thank everyone here that helped me out in this situation. I would not have thought of cga my self. So once again, thank you

CGA FTW! XD
