I'm looking at getting a Chromebook and am wondering if anyone around here has one they're willing to part ways with before importing my own

Would prefer a Samsung Series 3 but will consider other models

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Also if you are asking for a PM make sure your Privacy settings allow your account to receive PM otherwise people can't contact you.

I'm wanting one too - tried YouShip + Google Play Store?

Yeah, have considered that. Estimated that to be about $350 landed but saw one go on Trademe for $300 last week so obviously they are floating around the country

Slightly hesitant to jump on a brand new one now as new models from other manufacturers are likely over the next couple months; possibly even next week

Newegg had a sweet deal for $229 with a free 500 GB portable HDD. Was going to order the next day but it had ended...

After using a Windows Surface, synchronising with Skydrive I wondered about using a Chromebook...

You can use a skydrive extension too, but it syncs soooo well with google drive and all my androids.

Where'd you get yours from?

It's back down to $229 at Amazon but I'm still hesitant... OP still stands

I got my Chromebook S3 through Amazon and YouShop at the end of last year, I use it as my sole computer and it has everything I need, with more web apps being created the things I was missing when I first got it such as Spotify are now available too. Postage and compensation cover was $75NZD (I used a 15% off coupon so final cost was $65) just to give you some idea of the overall costs to land it. Well worth it.

@freitasm
The Series 3 one preferably, seems a bit more expensive on that site and have never really heard of them before

@asmcar
What were the shipping dimensions for you? From what I could find online the box weighs 4.2lb and is roughly 15x15x2.5 inches. With YouShop's calculator this puts it at $37.50 including compensation, a fair bit off the $65~ for you

@blakamin
Ah, the wonders of being in a country that doesn't get ignored when it comes to somewhat experimental products

Sorry for the extremely late reply, Amazon have a tendency to overpack items, so the Chromebook was packed in its retail box, inside of an amazon box with inflatable padding etc. This does mean that it is well protected for transit though which is good!

Below are the dimensions copied from my Youshop account:

Parcel weight 2.6kg
Parcel dimensions 39cm x 12cm x 61cm
Volumetric weight 5.71kg

If you have any other questions let me know!

Completely forgot about that, thought they might've just shipped it in Samsung's packaging. You would've got yours before YouShop introduced the repackaging option? Wonder if that would come in handy but I imagine that's more of a question for the YouShop thread
