I have a customer at work who has asked me to supply him a scientific calculator that can calculate IPv6 (ipaddresses and subnet masks)

I know these things are online but the customer said he would be using it where he doesnt always have access to the web.

I have no idea if this sort of things exists and my google searches so far have turned up nothing.

Help if you can :)

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Also if you are asking for a PM make sure your Privacy settings allow your account to receive PM otherwise people can't contact you.

You could try making an excel spreadsheet to calculate?

There's Android and iOS apps for this; I use an Android one called rather obviously "IP Subnet Calculator"

I'd be pointing them towards a smart phone app.

*edit - doh, beaten to the post, too many tabs open...

The Linux command line program ipv6calc seems to do what is wanted.

I am not aware of any portable device that runs Linux and has a native command line interface.

My suggestion would be a portable device which is networked and able to connect to a Linux box through a secure shell client(SSH).

Bit hard when the device has to work offline.

You could in theory use a graphing calculator and write/download a subnet calculator, but as has been said - smartphone + offline app will be the easiest and cheapest.

If you need a portable device which may need to work without networking why not install Linux on lapptop or netbook which has been cast aside as no longer powerful enough to run that other operating system.

Hard to imagine when would he need to calculate ranges when not accessing some kind of pc/server.

Smartphone app is probably the best option.
