Hi everyone

I have recently finished up work for the season and my damn computer I use for web/graphic design an gaming has given up on life an just wont turn on it was only cheap thing anyway, but I don't have the money to replace it so I'm wondering does anyone have some spare computer parts or a spare laptop they don't wont anymore? That would be good to at least do web/graphic design on, or would anyone have a small form graphic card, I have a cheap thing that only cost me 35 dollars for our kids to watch tv on but I could always put a graphic card in it an use that.

Case is a
HP Compaq dc7800 Small Form Factor
hp s/n AUD84007BL
p/n GC760AV

I have no idea how to pick a graphic card to fit a small form case.

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Also if you are asking for a PM make sure your Privacy settings allow your account to receive PM otherwise people can't contact you. Did you have a budget in mind? My flat mate has an older pc sitting in the corner that still works. It has a decent AMD graphics card and an older Core Duo CPU.

2GB of RAM would be fine for that PC. It's probably only got 1GB now.  4GB or 8GB sticks would not work in it.

A couple of 1GB sticks, 4 512 MB sticks or a single 2GB.  The 1GB ones will probably be easiest to source.

If it currently has two sticks of RAM inside the case, and broken RAM might be the problem which is stopping it working, would be to remove one of the sticks at a time and see if it can then boot up.

Does it not switch on at all, or is the error shown on the screen during the boot up process?

The computer I am talking bout is not broken thats my one, the one I am talking bout is the kids one that we use for our tv. And it can take a max of 8gbs of DDR2

Sorry, I cant send anything as I need it all gone this weekend.

And for RAM, I dont think you'll find anyone willing to give up 8GB of DDR2, its getting expensive to source and those that have 4/8, will probably be holding onto it for the same reason you want it :)

Ive only got 512MB sticks I think and even then they could be faulty....

I wasn't thinking free. I would pay for them $20 per 2 gb stick
