Hi there

Wanted: Apple TV 3rd gen can offer $80 if in good condition with remote and power supply. Will pay $60 for a 2nd gen.

Would like to pick up in central-ish Auckland if possible.

These are available from Apple refurb for $120 including delivery so I hope you consider this reasonable. If not, thanks for reading anyway.

Cheers

Dave

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Also if you are asking for a PM make sure your Privacy settings allow your account to receive PM otherwise people can't contact you. Also note if you are selling something we ask you to offer to other members first. Links to private sales (including Trade Me posts) aren't accepted anymore and will be removed.

The second gen usually commands a bit of a premium since they can be jailbroken.

AFAIK it's actually only a second gen which either hasn't had a system upgrade or has had the blobs saved. So my offer is of course for a second gen which has been upgraded and can't be jailbroken.

Wow $60 for an Apple TV 2? That's best deals.

To be honest I'd recommend just going to a store and buying one or depending on what you need look at other options like a Raspberry Pi or those Android TV boxes.

Easier to just keep the one you already have?

No, I'm trying to sell my jailbroken one for which I hope to get over 250 and buy a replacement for less. An un jailbroken second gen would be fine, hence my WTB. If you see what I mean....

Makes sense! Even unjailbroken (is there such a word?) ATV2s seem to be priced high so I wouldn't expect to see one for $60. Probably get a 3rd gen for your budget though. Good luck.

Bloody hell! I didn't think Apple allowed discounting.

Apple typically don't do discounts, but there's nothing stopping a retailer selling for less at their cost.

Loss leaders get people in the door so they can buy more.

Wasn't there something about it being in the terms of supply from Apple that large retailers weren't allowed to discount?

I sold my Apple TV 2 for $200 a year ago.  You might want to modify your expectations.

EDIT: Just read further up the thread, I see what you mean now.

RunningMan: $118 new at Harvey Norman.

At that price, I'm thinking they're clearing stock for the 'ATV 4' coming with iTunes 8!
Wonder if iTunes is going 4HD this round?

Well, its very likely that they are - hence my decision to do it now.

For the record, I got $250 for my ATV2 and bought and ATV3 (unopened but $130!!!) and a refurb Airport Express from Apple ($109) with the money. And had the price of a pint left. So happy with my work.

there's another ATV2 with a bid on it of $295. TradeMe prices vary a lot.
