I have a new battery for an old Garmin GPS watch I'm trying to install.

I've disassembled the watch and found that the old battery needs to be desoldered with the new battery resoldered back in. See image:

My soldering skills with large circuits is laughable at best and I don't know of anyone locally in Auckland who could do this for me.

Any recommendations or skilled GZers? Happy to pay for the service of course.

I don't mind traveling in and around Auckland.

Cheers

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Also if you are asking for a PM make sure your Privacy settings allow your account to receive PM otherwise people can't contact you. Also note if you are selling something we ask you to offer to other members first. Links to private sales (including Trade Me posts) aren't accepted anymore and will be removed.

I'm in Pakuranga but not available this weekend.  I'm sure others will also reply so maybe give it a few days and see who is near you.

Sorry for the late reply, have been waiting at a weekend medical clinic all morning.

Thanks Ricky, will be looking after a sick child this weekend so can't come out your way at the moment.

Niel, will be in touch via PM to arrange a time, perhaps next weekend?

Kind regards.

1. Recently done that in Garmin 910XT
2. Suggest you need to test the "new" battery for capacity before installation as depending on where you got it from it could be low capacity replica.
3. I am a battery geek and have testing equipment to analyse / test almost any battery for capacity - from phone, laptop to hybrid Prius, Camry etc including High Voltage packs.
4. I am in CBD Auckland
5. For Garmin watch I am looking for a ANT USB stick if you have spare one

Sunday afternoon/evening should work.  It will take only a few minutes.

Thanks for the tips. I only have the one battery and even if it is low capacity it should be fine as I only exercise for short periods. I'll keep you in mind for any battery issues in the future. Sorry I only have the single ANT+ stick.
