Ideally 1506 Model.

Am needing to replace at least one 15" Monitor in a row of 4, so for astectic reasons am trying to get the same. There are a couple on TM but not willing to post to Invercargill.

Am sorta keen to buy more than one too, never seem to have enough small screens lately lol

:)

If you have to run heating in winter, you don’t own enough computers.

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Also if you are asking for a PM make sure your Privacy settings allow your account to receive PM otherwise people can't contact you. Also note if you are selling something we ask you to offer to other members first. Links to private sales (including Trade Me posts) aren't accepted anymore and will be removed.

You might have to email some computer recycling places who will happily post.  dunamys.co.nz, nzcomputersales.co.nz, itrefresh, hcc pacific, are some that spring to mind that we use.

Typically it is the backlight driver that fails, or the power supply.  Both are usually replaceable.  An electronic engineer can usually also fix either.  I would offer to help if you are local and if I had time, which I don't have at the moment.

You can never have enough Volvos!

You pay that much to recycle them?! Crazy!

Is there any reason you dont just chuck them in a skip like most places do? Would be cheaper.

Because it would be environmentally irresponsible?

The thing is that many of these computer recycling places just resell them themselves to private owners, So whoever buys them, they probably then end up in a skip anyway at the end of their life. So they make money on getting corporates giving them to them, then they make money reselling them. It is good that they get reused though, but corporates are paying for that.

Actually with some old inefficiant junk its not better that people are getting more use out of them.

In some cases it would be like donating your old incandesent light bulbs to someone to save them from having to buy some new efficiant ones. They would end up paying more. Particually on monitors where there have been huge imrovements in efficiancy. 8 hours a day makes a free monitor at double the wattage cost you more than getting a good one new.

That's a very defeatist argument.

For one, it is better that the equipment at least gets more use before ending up in landfill.  Also, I would like to think the majority of companies use e-waste programmes to dispose of obsolete/faulty equipment.

Even with that cynical view, it is better than not trying at all IMO.

That is what the local council enforces for anything with a screen in it (we don't pay to recycle PCs)

It is no harder to take the monitors to the recyclers than it is to the skip, is it not better to try and do something, rather than do nothing?
