My Tivo remote is almost dead, part of its buttons doesn't work. The worst thing is I am not able to setup network access (after modem reset this was due to  internet connection trouble) becos the navigation and even the numeric pad is not working. Since I am not with Spark cant get it from them. Any help? [Pl dont suggest chuck that Tivo box]

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Also if you are asking for a PM make sure your Privacy settings allow your account to receive PM otherwise people can't contact you. Also note if you are selling something we ask you to offer to other members first. Links to private sales (including Trade Me posts) aren't accepted anymore and will be removed.

I got one of these http://www.amazon.com/Sony-RMVLZ620-Universal-Remote-Control/dp/B00385XUG0 and it works well as a Tivo remote, as well as controlling other things. You can also got the logitech remote route, although they aren't cheap.

Can you not setup the network via a web connection ?  The status page should show the current IP address ?

Just guessing, I have a Series 1 Tivo, not the hobbled newer ones.

Might be able to crack open the remote and check for mis-aligned membrane ?

I got one from the tivo.co.nz web site (which redirects to Aussie) about 5 weeks ago at a very good price.  Perhaps email them asking if they are getting more in stock soon?

mattwnz: Thanks will look at it.

SepticSceptic: ofcourse I opened the remote but still not working. When I purchased it from Telecom the Tivo Home Network package was not included so cant access via net. The only option is to get a new remote. I tried the Android app but no luck.

ut, they are currently sold out , maybe email to see if they are getting more.  Only around $30 which seems reasonable.

Can you actually get to that page? It gives me an error (complete with stack trace!) saying that it can't find my IP address. Why it's trying to look it up is a mystery...

My remote plays up every now and again. I downloaded an APK RCX for Tivo onto my smart phone. It works perfectly. The strange thing is, after I use the APK to control the Tivo, the remote starts working again. I suspect it's a fault in the Tivo causing the problem, not the remote.,

The problem is my Tivo is not connected to net so these mobile apps wont work which requires the Tivo to be on the same network
