My partner's iPhone (a 3GS...) has packed up and we are looking for something to replace it. Seems a bit stupid to buy a 6 for retail when they are due to be replaced by the force touch version in a couple of months. Does anyone have an older iPhone they are interested in letting go at a reasonable price? Anything newer than a 4s would be interesting. She doesn't use much storage so that's not really an issue.

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Also if you are asking for a PM make sure your Privacy settings allow your account to receive PM otherwise people can't contact you. Also note if you are selling something we ask you to offer to other members first. Links to private sales (including Trade Me posts) aren't accepted anymore and will be removed.

Keep an eye on 1-day. iPhones are coming up there frequently

Where'd you see the iPhone Force Touch rumour?

That surprises me, that would add some serious heft to it's profile.

You haven't mentioned your budget range.

I have a 6 - 64GB still under the standard 1 year warranty $890 ono

She wants a new one. I've said better to buy an older cheap one and hold out until the new one comes out. In the $100-$200 range would be about as much as she'd want to spend I think.

Force touch:

And from lots of other sources too. Mind you, I wouldn't be putting any money on it until Apple actually announce. There seem to be a lot of people out there making stuff up about Apple's future products.

What we do know, from previous model updates, is that when the 6s or whatever comes out the 6 will drop $200-$300 in price, and whatever's the bottom of the supported range will drop off.

The best time to buy a new iPhone is a close to launch as possible - that way you get the longest supported life.

^ not just that but iPhones are usually sold out for 3 months out if you want it without contract. Assume early 2016 is when you can walk up to a store and get one easily without pre/ordering

From my experience, many rumours do come to life, I class them as leaks. The S models usually don't change much, just an up spec. Force touch, I'd see that as a marketing oomph by Apple. Its harder for any phone to innovate these days, hence why I'd believe the rumour. The 7, they can make a minor design change to make it insanely great....

Not true always. You can always order from Apple Online store. I got my iPhone 6 plus in 2 weeks from the time it became available in Sep/Oct last year.
