Hi All Aerial Technicians

I'm looking for someone to setup my Aerial / connection at my home in Cockle Bay. We dont use sky (waste of money), just the normal freeview thing.
I can see a dish and an Aerial on the roof but they mean nothing to me.

If you are interested or know someone who is interested, let me know.

NB : needs to be today ...yes i know late notice.

Thanks

Wes

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Also if you are asking for a PM make sure your Privacy settings allow your account to receive PM otherwise people can't contact you. Also note if you are selling something we ask you to offer to other members first. Links to private sales (including Trade Me posts) aren't accepted anymore and will be removed.

Hi,

What you did not mention is:
1) Is it one or two storey house;
2) How accessible antennas are - 2 meter ladder from the ground or much more
3) Do you want Satellite Freeview (do you have receiver) or Terrestrial (Does your TV has built-in receiver)?
4) What areal is up there - UHF or not? Photos will help. Old corroded UHF or Dead LNB in Satellite dish may well need replacement
If you want terrestrial - do you have line of sight to the tower, not obstructed by terrain, houses and trees? (Common issue. e.g in my place I can't get it 100% obstruction)
5) Is 75 Ohm cabling already inside your house - i.e. from the roof to the room where TV is?

You are looking here to pay for the site visit to investigate your options, then for the hardware (antenna + cable + connectors + fixtures and perhaps if terrestrial is not an option for sat topbox) plus labour

What is your budget considering above? Asking Geekzone in my opinion would imply you were willing to DIY.
You may find out that people here who have relevant skills and tools are too expensive :-)

Great to offer work to other Geekzoners of course, but if needed the site http://www.nocowboys.co.nz/ can be quite good, and there's a trades section on Trademe as well.

If you decide to DIY the coverage maps on the Freeview site are useful. Normally pointing it in the same direction as neighbouring antennas is good, but in some cities like Auckland people overlook newer transmitters like the Sky Tower. :)  http://www.freeviewnz.tv/faq-library/getting-freeview/coverage-maps/

Thanks for the info.

I'm willing to pay someone to do all of this....if i wanted to do this myself i would do the list 1-5 above.
I do not have time to worry about this so i will rather just pay someone. :)

Currently doing cleaning because the previous owners lived like pigs and moved out without any cleaning.... there's still rotten food in the oven...black rotten curtains....great.
The house is amazing...1950's, sea view, massive garden, right school zones...and expensive, you would think they would of appreciated it and did a little cleaning while they lived in it! Blows my mind!

Understood that you have already fixed your TV reception. Just wanted to add # 6) to the list: what you did not tell is that your place presented health and safety hasards (black mold) :(
Good to know that you can get reception in Cockle bay from SKY tower.
In case you move elsewhere from that place.
From memory there is another one - much closer to you.
The map of towers was available on Cordia site, last time I've checked.

Morning, the black mold is on the windows from the condensation. The curtains have been thrown away.
The lazy SOB's lived like pigs.... so mank. Got a cleaner in yesterday.......hows ur cleaning skillz :)

Im the only one in the area that has their aerial pointing in a different direction... I take it all the other houses are pointing to the Cordia site?
The technician  said that i wouldn't of been able to get all the channels if i followed the other aerials?

We had some Korean channels from the Sky Tower transmitter for a while, it does seem the channels can vary between towers.
