Looking to build my own rig and don't want no super MLG pro just one that can get me gaming on average.

Don't feel like spending $1000+ on future proofing for two years to just restart haha, that can come down the line.

I'm new to the whole PC side of things so any advice would also be appreciated.

Do you have any components at the moment ? It dosent have to cost $1000 for a gaming system if youve already got some basics such as HDD's, monitor etc.

Ive always built "on the cheap" and been happy with results - current system (in signature) was $700 excluding HDD's and monitor (already had) and it plays most stuff quite happily, even some games marked as being minimum quad core CPU.

Keep in mind, buying "modern" 2nd hand parts, might not be worth it in the long run, might only save a few $$ and end up with someone elses problem...

The monitor will be a decent 24-32inch screen that I'll actually spend money on just looking for building the tower ATM.

All I have ATM is the old PC a fellow user is selling, the topic a fee topics down. (Getting it tomorrow)

I might be looking to sell a motherboard, tower case and older graphics card if any of those appeal?

Graphics card is an older NVIDA GTX570, decent enough as a starter, but 2 generations old and not going to play the newest games at the highest settings.

Probably got some old hard drives and cables and bits as well.

The card sounds perfect for what I'm going for, I would have to check out this motherboard and case when I get it to determine what I need.

As I'm a complete newbie when it comes to rigs, what would I need to even connect a card like that?

I've got a CPU, an i5-2500k available. I'm using one in my current PC and I've had another spare one lying around for a bit.
It's basically perfect for gaming and will save you $100s vs a new i5.

Doesn't bottleneck any card you can get atm, certainly not a 570. It's 2 gens older than the current batch of i5's but still competitive with them when overclocked (pretty legendary for that).
You'd have to find a LGA 1155 motherboard to go with it though (TradeMe, or someone else on here might have one perhaps? otherwise newegg still sells them). If you can get a motherboard for it, it would be fantastic value for money.

I love to cut those cases! the transparent lid with the fan works perfectly well for my HV chargers. I do not use the front only take LEDs from it.
