@presso gave this to me to try out, but the optical spdif output is awful and crackly. The standard line out works though. Free to a good home. First priority goes to anyone who will pick it up from central Wellington even if they post last, if no-one in central Wellington wants it by Monday morning I'll post it free to either the first person who wants it or maybe someone else if I have a good reason to pick them instead.

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Also if you are asking for a PM make sure your Privacy settings allow your account to receive PM otherwise people can't contact you. Also note if you are selling something we ask you to offer to other members first. Links to private sales (including Trade Me posts) aren't accepted anymore and will be removed.

If you don't care about 5.1 I can recommend the "Muse Audio" USB DAC/SPDIF thingies I bought a few years ago on eBay.  Do a good job of stereo and I will know tomorrow how good their optical out is.  Coax SPDIF out is fine.

Followup: optical out is fine, used it plus some aliexpress gear to send audio from aging laptop beside aging projector, to the sound desk.

This is the USB DAC I meant, but there will be other sellers with lower prices.

I actually have a really good quality USB DAC, it just needs an optical in to make it work. My new PC has the headers but no actual plug for it. So I should just buy the case plug.

@ludez where in NZ are you?

I wouldn't mind it. I'm in Lower Hutt and can use it as a spare audio card for my streaming PC for The Cheese :-)

@ZollyMonsta if you can collect it's yours, because laziness wins. Otherwise I'll send to ludez.

I have found that different drivers seem to help with the crappy digital out problem on these. Its still not perfect but better than the analog outs on it.
