Absolute brute of a pre/pro. A beautiful bit of kit. Still one of the best regarded out there despite it's lack of ATMOS capabilities.

I am honestly not sure what a fair price is? It looks like they still retail for around $8k and I can't find any 2nd hand ones on the market?

I am happy to consider to offers

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Also if you are asking for a PM make sure your Privacy settings allow your account to receive PM otherwise people can't contact you. Also note if you are selling something we ask you to offer to other members first. Links to private sales (including Trade Me posts) aren't accepted anymore and will be removed.

Is it new? Second Hand? How old? What state is it in ? Why are you selling it?

2nd hand, about a year old. Perfect condition, original box, manuals and remote. Considering selling as I would like to get into an Atmos set up.

I think rather than "offers" you need to give an indication on what you think you want for it or consider reasonable. Other threads like this one, don't really get the same level of positive attention.

I'll say $4k ONO. If people believe there is something else comparable at a more favorable price please let me know.

At the risk of being in breach of the FUG here, I'd like to point out that there are potentially 2 types of customers likely looking at your item for sale. High end purchasers who want this specific item or something truly similar. It's a VERY VERY small market. Second choice are those who are intending

to purchase an Amp that will consider your item because it's in the price range they are already considering. They don't need or want the "extra" power, or extra channels over say a 7.2 setup, but will buy it because it's better than what they can get from a retailer, at around the same price. Reality is, for a good 7.2 Amp, you aren't paying near 4K in my experience. I am not saying your price is incorrect, but just outlining that it's pretty unlikely you will see the return on a super high end item second hand (and I agree it really is a spectacular amp), that reflects how much better it is than your average "high" end amp.

It's an 11.2 channel amp with XLR connections...

Looking around at other newer items it seems in order to get the same quality and array of connections you'd need to spend around the $5k+ more closer to $6k but then you're getting Atmos and 4k capabilities. But like I said happy to reconsider the price, it's a merely a starting off point.

That's the problem you face now - odds are if you're looking at a device like what you're offering, you're gonna take the extra dip and go for Atmos capable and 4K capable, otherwise you're pretty much competing with high end consumer gear, rather than high end enthusiast. I'd recommend possibly scouring the corners of the web, and maybe even local places, see if you can get someone to bite there. Ask the local audiophile store if they'd mind advertising for you, for a cut of the fee? that sort of thing.

Anything I say is the ramblings of an ill informed, opinionated so-and-so, and not representative of any of my past, present or future employers, and is also probably best disregarded.

Fair point mate and appreciate the feedback. I did contact The Listening Post but because it's a brand they don't sell they weren't interested.

The unfortunate position you are in is that high end AV amps have a limited market, and often the used market value is way way below
original cost .

My marantz originally would have cost around the same, give or take a few thousand, I bought used it for $1400, now its worth less than $500 (market value based
on same amp on trademe)

Someone with 4K to spend on an AV preamp would probably have the $ to buy the latest new marantz (or similar)
And they would still need the power amps to match

Here we go, US market value (to give some indication)
US4k new, US1500 used

Yep can't argue with that mate. US market seems about half price of retail brand new too. So around $3200 for this probably fair-ish

I'd contact someone like Tim Charvil @ Soundline in Auckland who sells a lot of Marantz (I bought my first from him) and see if he can help you find a home for it. He will also be willing to give you an honest assessment of it's value.
