Hi there

Have had a google but haven't come up with tons of results.

I'm looking for about 7 19" non widescreen monitors for the workplace, like ex-lease ones)

Anyone know of any good sources of things like this?

Am waiting to here back from Remarkit but surely theres a couple more places like them?

Cheers guys :)

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Also if you are asking for a PM make sure your Privacy settings allow your account to receive PM otherwise people can't contact you. Also note if you are selling something we ask you to offer to other members first. Links to private sales (including Trade Me posts) aren't accepted anymore and will be removed.

We have found these guys http://www.dunamys.co.nz/ and these guys http://busmgtsol.com/ brilliant to deal with when sourcing ex-lease gear.  Both Auckland-based.

If you are still looking this trademe auction may interest you. 1093849619

Otherwise he has other monitors.

I have found him to be reliable if not usually the cheapest for ex lease gear.

Edit: typo

Watch for ones with fluorescent backlights that are coming up ex lease. They will be well into the stage where they have long warmups and are probably about to fail.

I've only ever once seen this in my IT career.  That may be because my main exposure has been to fairly good quality quality brands like Philips, HP, and Samsung.  I don't see LCD monitors fail very often, but when I have it is usually an electronic failure of some kind where there is no display or the unit does not seem to power up.  I think the only time I have seen a failed backlight was in a laptop panel where the user called and indicated he could see signs the picture was there but it was so dark as to be completely unusable.

Definately have seen signs of fluro backlight deterioration, usually when you have 2 secondhand but theoretically identical LCDs side by side and there is noticeable 'colour temperature" (is that the right term?) difference between the screens.  Were those screens not side by side the users might not conceive there was an issue.

I have a couple of Dell 20" ones that take about 3 mins before the picture is acceptable and will occasionally not light up when really cold. Many 1000 hours on them. Only keep because they are ips and 4:3 so for the arcade shell.

8 hours a day and a 3 year lease is about the limit for a ccfl backlight.

Wow - OK have never actually seen this behaviour in an LCD monitor.  Clients have dozens of 4-6 year old LCDs.  I bought 10x Dell 24" ex-lease LCDs a year ago from a recycler and they continue to operate flawlessly.  Of course they would have tested them first so as not to send me a dud.

I do have a compact fluorescent light bulb at home that does this though.  I moved it into the toilet so we are not blinded when switching it on in the middle of the night. You get just enough usable light when applying power and it takes about 3 mins to get to full brightness.  I would have paid extra for that 'feature'!  :)

It might depend on how hard they are driven. Dull office with the brighness low would help compared to needing bright for a retail environment etc.
