FWIW, I got one of these from Harvey Norman, and wouldn't buy it again.

Picture quality is fine, but despite the manual swearing it should automatically overwrite older videos, it doesn't and I have to keep reformatting the SD Card every time I notice it's run out of space.

Also kinda wish I'd invested in one that does GPS/speed logging as well.

I have a drivepro 200 from transcend, absolutely fantastic wee device, very reliable and very high quality footage and audio recording. 

I'd go with something cheap from Aliexpress like this. 

Not the greatest, but for $22 (shipped) it will probably do the job.

Turn off "Motion Detection" and try again. They are just too sensitive is this mode and the SD card will slowly fill up with clips meant to be permanently saved and kept for later review.

P.S. I presume you have not set "Loop Recording" to "OFF". Mine is set at 5 minutes.

I was just about to say this. I got one of these from PB Tech a few weeks ago and I realised that the motion detection setting was locking some files and preventing them from being deleted so I turned the setting off. I have loop recording off but it just records 10 minute loops. Overall I'm fairly pleased with it, the picture quality could be better but isn't terrible either.

How do you have yours plugged in / how have you routed the cable?

 

I have it plugged into a cigarette lighter adaptor expansion box under the passengers seat routed cable under the passengers foot mat up the dash/door deal, through a suction cup on the windshield (from a cheap windshield sun shield) to my passengers visor, to mounted just under the rear vision mirror.

Thanks that looks like a good option on the very cheap. I can spend a bit more, but the quality ones people are recommending are in the region of $200 give or take.

I saw a Mivue demo model on clearance sale for about $50.00. It doesn't come a charging cable/adaptor. Is your camera charged with a Micro or Mini USB plug?

I looked at some reviews for the lower end models and there were a lot of complaints about devices turning off and not working etc.

Mine's charged with a mini USB. Mine's worked flawlessly since, and even used it when I was in Australia for a week. Didn't skip a beat with a 64GB microSD card.

Have been through a DVR-027 (fine but lil grainy - often fakes sold on 1-day. If they're less than $70NZ, they're copies)

And then a G1W-CB (better video, developed annoying audio squeal within 12 months)

And now a GPS enabled Mini0805. However I get nowhere near the video quality as online samples which has me wondering. Cant be sure if I was sold a dud or if it has one of the known focus issues. Or my exporting videos method sucks.
