I have two servers that are surplus to requirements. One is an IBM System x3300 M4 Server and the other is an HP ProLiant ML110 G7 Server.

They are both in good working condition but there's no operating system installed on either machine. The IBM is 3 years old and the HP is about 4-5 years old but has been sitting in my storage cupboard for a year or so. They do however both have SBS 2011 COA's. I have all the original media for the HP but nothing for the IBM.

The IBM server is quite a nice bit of kit. Here's a link to its specs. I actually think it's worth a few hundy but there was little interest on here for it.

So, I would be happy to donate them to a worthy cause, a charity or school perhaps, that could make use one or both of them. It would be a shame to end up taking them to the computer recycler.

Does anyone know of a worthy organisation that has a need for a server? Please PM me.

Please note: They will have to be picked up from Ellerslie, AK. I don't have the time or inclination to package them up for transport.

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? This is generous of you.

However, I suggest just selling them. Like most other enterprises, any reasonable sized school or charity need to have the backing of vendor warranty support.

A small business on the other hand may choose to buy some spare parts and 'run the gauntlet' of no warranty.

@Dynamic, I agree with what you say, however I've tried selling them on TradeMe, and offering them here. Only one bite on here for the IBM but in ChCh. On TradeMe, nothing.

Hmmm that's a little bit of a surprise. I've bought a small number of used servers to be kept as spare parts for clients who were not ready/able to upgrade an out-of-warranty server for one reason or another.

The @medicalert foundation may be interested in this for a staging UAT server. From what I understand they're going through a fair bit of development at the moment (if this is still happening).

What about donating for the purposes of a teardown at a school club or something? I think it's really valuable for kids to be able to demystify tech by opening something up and getting their hands on the components, seeing how they fit together and come apart.

Maybe _old_ hardware, this stuff still has years of life left in it. I might even cry if that happened to the x3300.

(Sigh) Either would be a nice upgrade from the old HP server running my home stuff..... do I class as a charity if I say I'm married with 2 kids, a dog, and a mortgage ? :-p

Our school would love to take those from you. We're currently running on a couple old poweredge servers at the moment. A 1434,1950 and a 2950 make up the grunt for our small 200 pupil non profit school.

The IBM particularly sounds like it could replace the lot if it has enough drive space?
