This is tempting. Really need to replace this Xperia Z2 that's failing... but i don't know if I can see myself dropping $700 on lime gold! I'm usually a black, silver or white sort of person.

Any comments on the colour? And given it's dual sim, i'm guessing this isn't a local purchase/local warranty?

I chose Lime Gold and really like it. Different is good and it's not too out there. Are you in Wellington?

Correct, purchased in Hong Kong.

Nah up in Hamilton. I think i'll hold off for now - as tempting as it is to go for this model.

I've got the XZ now, any takers for the XP?

Hi Scott

Do you still have this available?

Do I recall you reporting that this phone will handle 3G (and 4G) calls from either or both sims?

For example, I want to have my primary 2 degrees sim in Slot x and back-up Spark sim in Slot y - which doesn't work with my Z3 dual - since slot 2 is 2G only.

Thanks,  Nelson

Hi Nelson.

Yes still available. There has been a hold up changing over to the XZ so I haven't been pushing it.

Yes that will work, you can specify which SIM does data, which one is 4G, etc. Can't have 4G on both but can have 3G + 4G.

Sadly, I see that it has no FM Radio, so it won't do all of what I need.  Terrific unit in every other respect.

Thanks anyway Scott!

Surely you could use something like TuneIn Radio?

 Good point Scott!

I've unthinkingly discounted using internet radio 'cos I'd consume mobile data.  And somewhat 'cos FM can sometimes be available outside mobile coverage.

I'll use TuneIn Radio over the next few days and see just how much data it consumes.

I appreciate your reminding me!

Nelson

That was sonyxperiageek :-)

Sure, no hurry, let me know.

I don't miss the radio at all. A downloaded library of 1000s of my chosen songs means no ads, no songs I don't like, no data, listen anywhere I am including on an aeroplane, without having to use earphones as an antenna, for 10 bucks a month from Google Play Music.

Hi Scott

I imagine your song library substitutes well for you.  I enjoy National Radio (well some of it...) and listen for 2 to 4 hours per day.  Works well in TuneIn - extra bonus of not having to have wired earbuds (BT ones are more convenient).  As I move around my property, I go into and out of WiFi range, and the few seconds handover to cell irritates me.  So on my trials yesterday, I left WiFi off - so there was no handover interruption.

rOn average over the 5 hours of my trial over the past two days, it used 29MB/h, or about 100MB/day - about double my current monthly data allocation.

I'm getting old and curmudgeonly now - stuck in my ways.  So I've confirmed that your Xperia X Performance is not for me.  I'll stick with my Z3 till I find a similarly affordable Sony with sufficient bells, whistles, battery life, two 3G sims and Micro SD slot....and native FM Radio.

Thanks again for your advice!

Regards,  Nelson
