So many people are saying that if I get one I'll be bored in 2 weeks that I figure there must be some mint and unused units around... PM me with what you got.

Cheers - Neil G

Another option might be to hire one to get a feel of it, there's a couple of outfits that do this. I don't remember their names, but they're on trademe too.

Graham from Level Up! is a really nice guy who can hire you the gear.

I've used his service prior to purchasing my own VR gear. I'm not sure whether he's able to send you a whole VR ready PC with games, he was mulling it over.

Problem is it will just get you super pumped about the tech and you will end up buying your own. I did.

After the unit sitting there for a couple of months, I actually fired the rift up today to show a relative, that was fun seeing another person getting so buzzed about the tech. I think once it's wireless and 16K resolution it will actually be ready. I look forward to that day.

My boss has his HTC Vive Pre up for sale. I think he was looking for $1,000 for the kit, if you're interested I can check for you?

Having had a quick look at the differences between the Pre and the Final consumer version (almost nothing of consequence) I am interested... Given a new one is $1500 (PBtech might even be lower by Boxing day) I may not want to QUITE spend $1000, but we're not a long way from what I would spend  - and the extra dosh would allow me to upgrade the GFX card further than I intended.

Please give him my details on here, or ask if you can PM me his email address...

Hi Neil,

By memory you are based in Christchurch?

If so their is a place on Riccarton Road called the VR Room that is set up with HTC Vive so you can try it out.

Thanks for the pointer... As it happened I caved and bought one anyway a few days ago... So far I am splitting my time between it, fixing up a real car, and getting back into some racing sims... I have tried simracing on the VR headset and I felt a bit ill halfway round the Nurburgring so I am hoping that was just the elevation changes... Google Earth VR is amazing. Haven't tried much else yet.

Cheers - N
