I have a ~10 year old ThinkPad here which shows absolutely no signs of life. Before giving up on it, I would just like to confirm that the fault lies with the laptop itself and not with the power supply. Does anybody (ideally in Central Auckland / North Shore) have a suitable PSU that I could borrow for a short time?

The laptop requires 16V 4.5A through a 2.5/5.5mm barrel coax connector. The charger supplied with any of the following ThinkPad models would probably be suitable:

A20m, A20p, A21e, A21m, A21p, A22e, A22m, A22p, A30, A30p, A31, A31p
R30, R31, R32, R40, R40e, R50, R50e, R50p, R51, R51e, R52
T23, T30, T40, T40p, T41, T41p, T42, T42p, T43, T43p

Thanks

I think I might have one sitting in a box in storage in Wellington, but I won't be back up there until the end of the month.

If noone else can help you remind me in a few weeks :-)

I've got a power adapter from a T60 (20V 4.5A) that would probably suit for testing ... I'm in Wellington, so if you know anyone passing by that could carry it to Ak for you.

Thanks for the offer - if I still need one then, I'll get in touch.

Thank you, but unfortunately the 20V adapters have a physically larger plug and will not fit the older ThinkPads.

Yeah, sorry about that ... just measured the tip undecided

If you are passing through Wellington I do have a power supply that can be set to various voltages and has interchangeable tips.

Thanks again for the offers. I spent a bit of time looking at this today and have confirmed that the laptop itself is faulty. OTOH, my existing PSU is probably fine.
