As per title, just wondering if anybody here was willing to part with their Draytek V120 ADSL 2+ Modem? I got one about a month ago but the lights suddenly stopped turning on, so I'm not sure if the power cord is faulty or the actual Draytek itself. I also don't have a spare one of those thinner power cords to test it out; my old modem/router had a thicker power cord.

My Draytek DV130 power supply died. I just used another one in the correct voltage range (9-12V IIRC - it's written on the modem) with an adapter.

Yes, I am thinking my power supply has died and not the modem itself. I might pop into Jaycar and see if I can use one of their adapters with one of my power supplies and test it out first.

I've got a router here with a PSU of 12v and 2.5A which I think will be too much for the Draytek if I were to get an adapter.

TradeMe looks like the way to go. I hope they're safe though!

What do you mean "too much for the Draytek"? If you're meaning the 2.5A that's just the DC power supply's rated maximum output - the Vigor will determine the load.

12V@2.5A - the Draytek uses 9V. Most routers use 12V, so the Draytek must be an oddity.

Maybe try a music shop. Lots of guitar pedals and other music gear uses 9V and places like Rockshop would have cheap third party 9V supplies. It's mostly a matter of getting the correct plug size, so take the unit in with you.

No, you need correct voltage, but current rating is ok to be higher.

Some of the slightly more expensive ones come with multiple adapters, but these are always going to be less robust than a pre-moulded plug.

Otherwise, bearing in mind that there must be at least a dozen AC/DC wall wart adapters for every person on this planet maybe you should go down to Vinnies or wherever and go through the bins full of this stuff until you find one.

You're very right about the multiple adapters part! I went into Jaycar the other day and when they plugged it in, no lights came on, I thought that it was the modem's fault. However the sales rep played around with the adapter connection and voila the modem lights go on and off... so I was like I'll go find something else thanks.

That's also why I was wondering if anybody here had a spare 9V ~ 1-2amp AC/DC PSU pretty please? I can definitely pay for shipping. :-) I can't power any of my UniFi network stuff and it's messing with my home automation setup on the NAS too! :-(

That power supply on Trade Me will cost 60% of my Draytek purchase lol. If it comes to it in the end, and I can't find any other PSU lying around I might as well just have to fork up the $12 for it or get another Draytek modem for $20 I see going on Trade Me now...
