My iPhone 5s has gone completely bonkers and i'm wanting to wait till the new one comes out at the end of the year, therefore does anyone have an iPhone 5c/5s or above that they want to just get rid of for between $100-150 to just get me through. Don't need charger or earphones or even a box and don't care on colour etc. Could extend my budget for a 6 etc but depends on the price.

I'm in West Auckland

Cheers

Was that your 5s? mine just turns off and on and won't even connect to iTunes as it just turns off and on every 10 seconds. It's pretty much dead, couldn't even get it into restore mode.

Yeah it could be but am i going down a dark long tunnel. Spend a little here and there and not solve the problem and then still end up buying another phone. Just thought i would ask around as some people have an old phone hidden away that they just don't care about and want to get rid of it easy as.

Warehouse Stationery have the iPhone SE which is the 5S with iPhone 6S parts inside for $545 (32gb). Use the Warehouse Money card to get a further 5% off. Also, Warehouse Stationery price match - got my partner's 64gb SE there for $420 thanks to matching a pricing error.

If you need parts for these phones you can sit on the facebook market place for a little bit.
Generally you will see someone selling their "mates" iphone thats icloud locked. Good for parts!

I always ask for the serial number (Pull the, "you'd give it to me if it wasnt stolen card") then query it with the police and if it isnt stolen then its either not reported or genuine. I have picked them up for under $20-30 when fixing friends phones.

i think mine just needs a new battery that won't explode, maybe a new button (it's not responsive when screen is off), and another 1GB of RAM would be good, as well as a second CPU core. other than that it's fine. oh and it restarts itself when I'm not looking. not sure why.

If you guys are in love with the 5S form factor, seriously, the SE is an "earth shattering" upgrade. My partner "upgraded" from a 6 Plus because she prefers smaller phones. It is faster in every way (thanks to the 2GB of RAM), and has a better camera. As it is the exact same form factor as 5S all of your historical cases/holders/covers etc should fit snugly.

I haven't notice a bit decrease in speed with iOS 10 and the iPhone 5s. It is still pretty snappy for me. It is getting iOS 11, although the beta for that is quite slow, but that is normal with betas.

Whats your tolerance on latency for these devices? E.g touch text field and have to wait 3-4 LONG seconds before the keyboard comes up?
My touch ID is pretty much useless, It is the first gen however..

There has to be something wrong with your phone as my keyboard pops up within a second. I am used to laggy devices with previous samsung S models over time, but the iphone 5S is nothing like those. Wouldn't say it is buttery smooth, but it is still quick. Also touch ID works perfectly without delay. There are videos on youtube of peoples reviewing IOS 10 on the iphone 5S and 5, and they also all seem to perform reasonably well without much lag. Apple wouldn't update them if they were going to perform too slowly, as they have had a lot of flack in teh past when they updatred older models, and they were virtually crippled. eg the ipad2 and iOS 9. I however think the iOS11 maybe more laggy based on my trial with the current beta 2 on it, but betas are never a good guide, as they aren't optimised for the device.
