Hi all!

I've got a bunch of music I've saved from years ago for CDs I no longer have, and I want to go all nostalgic and get an iPod classic to listen to it with.
TradeMe has a fair few but I'm keen to avoid that if I can, if we trade away from there seller and buyer both save like 7% on fees (seller pays it and recoups it through the price).

It doesnt have to be the latest gen iPod Classic either, whatever you've got let me know and I'll take a gander. Has to be in working condition though, smashed screens/really dented I'll probably miss.

Cheers!

Many the hard drives will be stuffed, as will the batteries, as both eventually fail . Finding one that has a big ssd retrofitted and a new battery could be an option

I was definitely looking at that and had a few doubts about it, as the latest ones are at best 2-3 years old. Luckily batteries and the hard disk are probably the cheapest bits to replace so it could be a project (assuming the battery hasn't swollen and ruined the thing). But with an SSD it'd be a nice mix of old and new for sure.

I have one, perfect working condition but have to check the battery and capacity. Had it in my car for ages (Alpine head unit with connecting cable).

What are you looking at paying?

I'm probably looking to pay like 100-150ish depending on the model etc. Where are you based?

I've a Classic we don't use; sits in my wife's car and I've never known her to use it! It was one of those that developed some lines on the screen; I recall it was a not uncommon fault at the time. 60GB, if I remember correctly.

Let me know if you want me to post a photo of the screen to show the extent of the screen issue.

Yah sounds good. Post a few pics of you could :-) also would you be able to get the model number? I think it’s under settings or on the back.

I unearthed two the other day at home, they did belong to the kids, but they've long since left home. The kids that is.

I didn't realise they are almost a collectible item - I was humming and hurrmphing as to what to do with them.

I think they are the 5th gen Classics, has the click wheel, but mono screens.

I charged them up a couple of weeks ago, hopefully still retain the charge.

Also had a black Nano 3rd Gen, but I think I threw that one away - needed a battery replacement. Damn.

Might be over your budget, but I'd recommend a Fiio player with an SD card, for example https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Portable-High-Resolution-Lossless-Music-Player-FiiO-X1II/1473108_32770115953.html

Hey, are you still after an iPod? If so, I'll get around to finding mine (iPad video, I think that model was called).
