Hey all,

I too have a 3rd gen Apple TV for sale. Not using it since moving to Google Home + Chromecast so out it goes.  $100 firm.  Pickup in Ellerslie or Otahuhu.

Cheers!

Which model is it?

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

I think we want you to identify your model: A1427 or A1469?

What can I do with it? I have no experience with Apple TV. I know it can be used for streaming but what does it do that I can't do with Android?

You can stream Netflix in 1080p (the previous versions only did 720p), watch trailers (I use this a lot, sounds odd but its a great way to watch them on the TV) but or rent movies from iTunes (I rent movies quite a lot, you get 48 hours I think, and its always in 1080p, so looks and sounds great), plus there are a ton of other apps.  I have an US iTunes account so can get lots of US content.  Here's a site with a list:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/apple-tv-3-app-list.1956990/

Some of of the above requires a US Cable TV account.

If you have an iPad or a Apple Laptop, you can also use AirPlay which is a lot like casting, but native to the platform rather than running in an application.

OK thanks for the info. I don't think it would be especially useful for us considering our viewing tastes and Internet restrictions. We already have trouble streaming 720p on our RBI.
