Hi all
I'm in search of a late 90s-era desktop PC for a software museum exhibit...
Backstory: In July I'm coming up to my 20yr anniversary working in the same place, albeit one which has gone through several mergers and acquisitions in that time. Our software is now fully cloud and web-based, but in the late 90s it was a standalone desktop application
For that occasion, I'm looking to re-create a 1998-era installation of the software using hardware of the day. So this will mean a beige desktop box with a beige keyboard and mouse with a ball and no scroll wheel.
Spec of desktop box is not particularly important, anything pentium class with 16MB or more will be sufficient. Doesn't need much disk, probably 300MB or so would be ample for my needs. But it needs to be reasonably cosmetically ok still... I'll be giving it a good clean up and ideally I'll get it looking as close to new as I can.
My budget is not large, a few tens of dollars is about what I'm thinking. I'm really just asking to see if there's anyone with something ancient sitting around that they haven't gotten around to disposing of yet, but that still will actually turn on.
Please, in keeping with the time, it needs to be beige. No black desktop stuff please, and no LCD screens. Must be CRT!
Disc images - I've got what I need - Windows 95, office 97, etc.
[Edit] Just to add that I'm in the Wellington area, happy to come and inspect/collect.
Thanks in advance!
