Looking for a PCI Wifi card with antenna extension.

My sons currently got a Asus 802.11g PCI card, with a small flex antenna in his desktop, and he's had to position the case to get signal from the AP (802.11ac Unifi) in the next room.

N is fine (prefer dual antenna/band). It's a step up from what he has and I don't want him hogging the bandwidth ... as long as it's cheap and not a generic brand.

I have one to spare …. 802.11g wireless lan PCI card (got it from Dick Smith some years ago but works fine).

Includes a high-gain antenna (approx. 160mmm length and can turn/swivel through 360 degrees).

I'm in Wellington.

Thanks, but my son is hungry to get more bandwidth since we moved to UFB :-b

Hence why I'm looking for  >= N as well

I found a couple cheap AC cards (Asus and Gigabyte) and my son doesn't want to wait, so we are off to the shops to have a look

Just wondering if you've considered using an old router as a wireless bridge if possible, or a powerline adapter to send a network signal through your power wiring?

Nah it's really only an old gaming PC my son uses. The distance isn't too bad from the AP, just one wall.

The AP is also a Unifi AC LR, so its got extra range.

It's a combination of 'G' and small antenna that makes his performance suck.

He's just smashed his piggy bank, and spent his last pennies on an Asus AC1200 card, with extended antenna.
