Both items are brand new, the boxes were only opened to get some photos and double check they are correct.

I brought these when i planned to run a fibre lead to the garage, but instead used a Ruckus wireless AP to acheive the same thing and these have sat since.

The miniGBIC details are:
Model number: GVT-0300
850nm Multi-mode Transceiver
1000 Base-SX, 550m
Small Form Pluggable (SFP), 3.3V
Duplex LC Connector
http://nz.level1.com/Fiber-Optical-Transceiver/GVT-0300/p-709.htm

The Converter details are:
Model Number: GVT-1000
https://www.cnet.com/products/levelone-procon-gvt-1000-fiber-media-converter-gige/specs/

Looking for ~$300 for the whole lot. Can ship at buyers expense or drop off within Hamilton area (where i am located)

Did you end up buying any actual fibre?

Only a short 2m lead to test it all out on, but never opened it to use. I can include it with the sale if anyone wants it?

I have a couple of Mikrotik switches with SFP ports.

What would these do that the Mikrotiks don't - barring the actual transceivers?

Pretty much the same thing.

Normally you would use these in a setup where you wanted to run fibre between two locations that didnt have switches at each end to handle the fibre media conversion.

EG you have a core switch and an edge switch.  Both switches only have RJ45 LAN ports. You run a fibre lead between the two switches and use the media converters (for sale) to connect into each switch

Kinda a specialised setup/need, but hopefully that makes a bit of sense?

Yes, thanks. Probably not what I need at the moment, although the prospect of getting a pile of new toys to play with is tempting!
