Tried Hamilton NL today, guy checked and said no stock anywhere and they were a discontinued item.

Google store says out of stock. Interestingly Dick Smith earlier were saying sold out but are now showing in a second listing as available, also now listed on Trademe.

Looks like that might be the answer.

If you are not in a hurry B&H Audio in the USA have them for sale @ $US15 ATM - Cyber Monday deal.

You will need to use You Shop or similar to get them home (~NZ$12 or so depending how B&H package them)
Free shipping from B&H within the states (ie to You Shop)

Also note it will come with a US plugged USB wall-wart

Should be delivered before xmas :)

B&H ship to NZ don't they?

I'm sure I've purchased with them before.  I won't risk free shipping in US to youshop, as you then pay based to some degree on volume, and you can't control how it's packed.

I hear you about you shop. But in for this deal this weekend B&H won't ship direct to NZ. They will probably do it again when they are full price.

If I was the OP if take up the offer of a second hand unit earlier in the thread

Thanks to those that replied. All sorted.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Good to know - where did you end up getting one from?

It's sad to see these aren't being made any more, or are there plans for a new version to be released? Such a great product, especially as it allows (often better-sounding) older equipment to get a new lease of life.

I'm just glad I bought a bunch before they became scarce - we have four of them around the house, replacing the ever-unreliable Squeezeboxes.

From xyeovillian. Was only the one guy at NL said they were discontinued. Maybe he just meant by NL. Would he really know? Probably not.

I just ordered a couple from Google and will sell one when they arrive. Price will depend on how NZ Post packs them but at USD 15 shouldn't be too bad. I suspect new model on its way. Prob have bluetooth or similar new feature.

I don't know where that came from but certainly didn't say that!

I'm pretty sure he's meaning he bought it from you, and the rest was in reply to someone saying it would be sad to see them discontinued.

I tried ordering from Google Shop usa but they kept on cancelling. Looks like the wont deliver to the nz post redirection service. Ended up getting one from a spark shop. See my other post.

I saw similar news. I have a couple I use which I like. The ability to cast to more than one is quite useful to whole house audio. I think Google thinks that there are enough devices to cast to already but there is nothing like having the Chromecast Audio connected to your HiFi system to get the best audio.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.
