Have just redesigned my garden and have approximately 40 of several varieties of Bromeliad available for sale with prices ranging from $5 - $15 ea depending upon size of plant.

Most Bromeliad's are plant and forget very low maintenance and quite hardy. Two simple rules are the darker the foliage the sunny the position and always water from the top not the base.

This is a pick up only sale. Location = Tauranga

The two main varieties are:

Bromeliad - Neoregelia 'Burgundy Beauty'

This very low maintenance plant has tough rosettes of burgundy leaves with green speckles. Can be potted up for indoor, patio etc. Looks good in a rockery, as a garden border, or as a bank or cliff plant. Helps to keep animals off the garden.

Prefers full sun to bring out leaf colour though does not mind partial shade. Plant in moist but well-drained soil. Can take moderate frosts. Water from top, not base. Two or three stabilisation stakes maybe required till shallow root establishment, though they can survive with very few roots.

Remove old leaves at the base of the plant to encourage new pups. Cut off pups at root base to propagate.

Bromeliad - Aechmea ‘Gamosepala variegated'

This is a variegated variety of Aechmea gamosepala, commonly known as ‘Lucky Stripes’ or ‘Match Sticks’.

This exotic, evergreen tropical plant is classed as semi-epiphytic which means it can be attached to a tree trunk or bark. It can just as well be planted in a container indoors or in the ground. It clumps but spreads by runners. The pups can be divided from the base of the mother plant.

It has tall, slender rich green ribbon leaves with margins from yellow to white on the edges. It produces fabulous long looking flower stems with blooms, in colours of Pink and Purple which look like coloured matchsticks along the stem.
Plant in part shade, filtered light. Don't let dry out, always make sure it has water in the centre of its rosette.

Vriesea philippo - coburgii

Medium to large, well formed rosettes of leathery leaves. In low light, the leaves remain deep green with brick red leaf tips. In high light, the leaves turn light green, almost yellow, and the distinctive red tip marking becomes more prominent. Quite striking, particularly when in flower, as the red and yellow flower spike can reach up to 1.5 metres high. Quite hardy.

NOTE: I only have three of these for sale at $25ea. They are approx 0.5mtr tall & wide.

PM me if interested.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Also planning on doing some changes to my garden.

I'm on the central North Shore, if anyone in Auckland is after Bromeliads... Guessing 100+ plants.

Whereabouts on the shore? I'd consider taking a couple to fill out some areas that aren't already colonised.
