I have an odroid c2...tbh they’re not much better that a raspberry pi. Concentrate on a nuc if you can.

Do you have a C2 for sale, or were you just talking generally?

Yeah possibly, mine was doing home automation, and I found it a little lacking.  It might do better as a media player.  I now only use it for unifi.

If that helps, I moved my Home Assistant setup from a rasp Pi to a small I3 NUC and my only regret was not having done it earlier...

The thing restarts so much faster and is way more reliable which is very important.

Thanks that is helfpul. What NUC are you running and are you using Hassio?

My NUC is a DC3217IYE, for what it's worth. It's quite an old model. I bought 2nd hand off trademe.

I am pretty sure it came with 4GB of RAM, an i3 processor and a small SSD.

Yes, I am running hass.io that I installed on top of Ubuntu Server.

I am pretty happy with my setup and it works well. I have a mate who splurged on an brand new i5 NUC (don;t have the model sorry) but that thing is flying. I can tell his reboots are faster than mine but honestly for the price difference (he paid $800+ all up while I paid less than $200) you're not getting much more...

Happy to answer other questions on that topic if you are interested. Flick me a PM, maybe

@phrozenpenguin

I have a C2, case, power supply and I think 16GB eMMC card in it. It's also running HassOS already! I went from a Pi3 to an old NUC, then a C2 as I wanted to try HassOS and now back to NUC again now that HassOS supports those too.

It certainly works but better than a Pi and is far more reliable than using anything with a MicroSD card (never again!).

If your between a Pi and a $300+ NUC, the C2 is a great interim step. I was using it with an external z-wave module.

@xbmcnut How much do you want for the C2? I'll be keen.

Thanks for the offers everyone - this is now sorted. I appreciate a NUC might be ideal, but for my limited use and constrained size and power, the C2 should be great. Just moving from SD to eMMC has massive appeal...

I've gone with the C2 from @xbmcnut (sorry @michaelmurfy - will let you know if it doesn't end up suiting my needs).
