Hey guys,

I'm on the lookout for an iPad, preferably one that has Pencil support so something like a iPad 6th gen or a iPad Pro 10.5

PM with any offers!

Cheers

Apple just (this week) announced (available 30th) the newest iPad which supports pencil and smart keyboards etc, starts at NZD599.

Not sure your price point but most Pro's I have seen for sale have been more than that.

Yeah I did see that news, but was disappointed with no real upgrades over the 6th gen. Plus buying a new one with Pencil + case is getting up to $800 so by the time I do that I'd much rather look at a iPad 6th gen for almost half that, or an iPad Pro 10.5 for a similar amount

Your best bet maybe a runout older model budget ipad, when they release the new slightly larger screened version. Or a apple refurbed one. Maybe the odd one on trademe too, but they do seem to retain their price well.

Yeah, got to be careful with that one as it uses quite an old chip A10 (that's three generations old!).. the screen upgrade and pencil support is nice, but you get what you pay for.

IMO it is so odd they would release it with such an old chip, as that is where I would have expected the update to occur. Because if this is targeted towards students, they would want to keep it for at least 3 years I would think. As the ios13 is probably the last OS version for the A9 chip, I suspect the A10 will only got up to OS 14. Maybe they will extend ipad OS for longer . Maybe that is why they have broken it up into it's own OS, because the ipad air 2 is also fairly slow, running an faster A8 chip, and I don't think it should have got ios13, as it appears to be by far the slowest device that supports ipad/ios 13. .
