Hey team,

Has anyone here got any experience with Portable USB powered monitors?

Preferred size around 15"-16". Ideally self-powered, but separate power output would be a bonus (plug it into a power bank to avoid draining the host).

I've seen prices ranging from $150 on AliExpress right through to $500 for ASUS models that don't display any obvious differences. Because of the price discrepancy I'm hoping to hear from others with their experiences and/or recommendations.

If you've got one or two kicking around for sale I could also be interested!

Cheers!

Consider this: https://yourslide.com/

It's this kickstarter campaign https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/slidenjoy/slidenjoy-double-or-triple-your-screens/description that has shipped wayyyyyy late, but is finally shipping (i understand).  One of my favourite clients has ordered one that should be here in the next month.

Note - I've no first hand experience with this product, to date.

A friend has one that he highly recommends. If you're on Twitter or drink beer in Auckland you might know Jason already. He has some info about the monitor here and I'm sure would be happy to answer questions.

Thanks team, that Kickstarter device looks very interesting. I guess I'll wait to see the real world reviews by end users.

Feel free to keep the other recommendations coming. I'm particularly interested to hear of anyone who actually bought one from AliExpress or the like and what the build quality was like.

The ASUS ZenScreen was on PB Tech's daily deals the other day.  Might be worth a look during the Black Friday sale today.
