Hello All

I would like to bring my old Squeezebox back to life and the remote isn't working.

Is there a chance someone has one of these? Or a compatible multi device remote?

There is a chance it isn't the remote but the IR receiver on the unit. I've got the same issue with my old Squeezebox Touch

Any chance to fix? If not do you know of any similar radio/music system?

Would you be looking for something that also plays music off a local server/NAS or are you only interested in the internet radio and music on demand aspects of a Squeezebox replacement?

You can often use a cellphone camera to check a remote. The camera can "see" the IR emitted from the remote, so point the camera at the remote and press a button, you should see the IR LED flashing.

Yes, I've done that and yes I can see the LED. No reaction on the base station. I can get stations to play through the web-interface, just that I haven't got the amplifier atm.
I bought a remote control on Trademe and will check early next week.

Internet radio, Spotify and NAS.
I'll give a try to get the old thing going, otherwise I'm looking for new(or secondhand) options.

I'm running a few Squeezebox devices still and just use iPeng (IOS) or the web interface for control.

The remote control is just so easy, press "on" and "off" most of the time starting with Morning Report. When leaving "stop". We've been using a boom(Bluetooth) and mobile control to listen to internet radio. It works all right, just too much mucking around.
I hope to get the SB going as it is a perfect solution for us.

I'll take a look around. I have a Classic which has died, and which has a remote, somewhere.

Hi,

I was going to list my Slim devices squeezebox v2 + remote in the FS thread - everything works perfect. Interested?

Cheers,

Kerry.

The OP says that he's bought a remote on TradeMe. If anyone else is interested I have a Squeezebox Classic with remote up for grabs. There's something wrong with it - I think part of the analogue output is not working properly (realised that I had a Raspberry Pi and a spare Dragonfly which replaced it, so didn't spend much time investigating) - so it's probably not worth much. Maybe a swap for something?
