Hi.

Would anybody have 2 x managed switches (8 or 16 port) they no longer need or have sitting around gathering dust that they can either part with for free or cheaply?

I'm being made redundant at the end of this month and I wanted to upskill myself with Networking. Apart from configuring my home broadband router with some static IP addresses for a couple of devices, that is as far as my skills currently extend to. Having a bit more knowledge in this area would probably be beneficial for me in the future.

I'm also looking into doing the CCNA 1 Course.

I live in West Auckland and currently work out in Penrose, so am willing to come and pick-up within the Auckland region.

Thanks in advance.

Harry

I've got about a dozen Cisco switches like the Catalyst 2950 and 2960 that you are welcome to have a couple of, if these are of any interest.

Pickup would be from just off Lincoln Road, west Auckland.

If anyone else is interested, let me know.  I'll likely send them to the recyclers at the end of June.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

@Dynamic That would be awesome. Gives me something to play around with. Thank-you.

I'll flick you a PM

@rphenix yes that would be fine.  I'll make a list of what I have floating around late tomorrow and post it here.  You are third in the queue, there are about a dozen units, and I'll limit everyone to 4 items.

pickup son notcua fans and replace them :)

Did it with my managed switch at the family home.
Funny thing is I had a spare hp switch. When I got this flat pulled it out and instantly fell in love. It's dead silent!

OK Folks... here's what I have to give away:

1x Cisco 2900 series 12 port 10/100 Switch

10x Cisco 2950 series 24 port 10/100 Switch with 2 gig ports or two (I'm guessing) swappable module ports

6x Cisco 2960 series 24 port 10/100 Switch with 2 gigabit ports

Limit of 4 per person, for the moment.  Feel free to check in with me in a week to see what is left if you would like more.  Three people have confirmed they would like to pick some up, but no models or quantities have been discussed.  It's first come first served.

FOR SALE are 2x 24 port and 1x 48 port Cisco 2960 series SI POE switches.  $40 for the 24 port or $60 for the 48 port.  30 day money back warranty.

I can ship any of these but it will be at shipping cost plus $20 for my time.  Pickup times are pretty flexible.  All have passwords on them....  you'll have to go through the factory reset process yourself.

Not as fancy as the other switches here but I have a Netgear ProSafe FVS318N for sale.

It's a wireless 802.11 b/g/n VPN firewall router with 8 gigabit LAN ports and 1x gigabit WAN port.

Does VLANs as well.

In original box.

$20 plus shipping.

Okie doke...  it's now a free for all.  My cr*p pile is too big and I've now asked the recyclers to come in next week.  @rphenix and @1024kb if you are still keen, let me know.  Happy to put some aside if you can't pick up for a week or so.
