My son likes to draw and would like to make it digital and since his birthday is coming up in 2 months I thought I'd look for either an iPad Pro or Surface? I checked Wacom's but I think it will be a steep learning curve e.g. looking at the monitor while moving the pen on the pad. The model with the screens is unfortunately outside my budget. Any other recommendations or anyone planning to upgrade and would like to let go of their current gear at a decent price please let me know.

Just an FYI you don't need an iPad Pro to get pencil support. All newer iPads now support the pencil.

Thanks for the info. I thought I got lucky and would only need to buy the pencil as I have an iPad Air but it seems the 1st gen is not supported :(

Hey mate, I have a surface pro 2(i think) with a pen that has gone unused for years, im all for encouraging kids with their interests so i'll let it go for half of whatever they're selling for on trademe.. let me know if its of interest to you and i'll fire it up and take a look at the specs when I get home this evening.

Cheers
