timbosan: What’s your budget? I have a S8+ for sale.
When I was looking at S7s I was hoping for $100 as teenagers tend to break phones. Will pm to see what you are after.

Just to clarify, said teenager is a preteen. I want to slow down her instagram ambitions a little buy buying her a old phone and she needs to prove she can not loose one for a decent period before she gets a real phone. Real phone age is about 13 in my book, she is currently 11 so just needs something that mum and dad can contact her on.
You will all understand when you get to this stage of kid raising.
@landcruiserguy - if you're still looking. I've got a S7 that is sitting here unused. Physically in pretty good nick (always had a plastic screen protector / case but has pitting around the frame where stuff has gotten into the case?).

$100?, thats cruel. A teenager?
How about get something that the teenager won't get teased about.
I'd say minimum s8 as it has the new design principles.
You can get for around $350, which is peanuts for a phone.
Not all teens are that shallow. My 16 yr old boy has a hand-me-down 8 year old android, and often forgets to even take that to school. He has no idea what his friends use, nor does he care.

And not everyone has $350 or more to spend on a phone for their kid, or may want to avoid doing so based on how poorly their child looks after their possessions...
