Hi guys,

I'm looking to build a DIY NAS running Openmediavault or something.
This will only be used as a NAS and won't need to run other apps, handle video transcoding or anything extra.

So far all I have is a case and PSU.

Space is tight in the case (it's 2U and only 30cm deep) so looking for a small Motherboard (mATX or mini-ITX) and a CPU to go along with it.
Not sure if I need integrated graphics. I'm guessing not so hopefully I can get away without this.

Probably the wrong thread for it but any advice would also be appreciated.

The mATX board in here https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=77&topicid=275705 is still available if you would like it.

I may have an original cooler for it, but am away up north atm, so can look once home Tuesday.

Cost you shipping (unless you’re coming to Tauranga).

Sorry for the late replies.

@fritzman Thanks for the great offer. I don't know much about motherboards but think that board might be a bit old for what I'm after? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I'm happy to pay for parts.

@iamsammajor I haven't found anything else so far, so still looking at this stage.
I thought there would be quite a lot of spare parts floating around here.

i think if you are jsut doing NAS for storage, C2D could be plenty of horsepower. i have a atom board that i used to run NAS on it,

could test it and you could have it if confirm it boots up.

A bit late but if you're still looking I'm selling the stuff out of my previous NAS. It's a Supermicro X9SCM-F with a Xeon E3-1230 and 16 GB ECC RAM if you're interested. It's micro ATX sized. It needs a CPU cooler but think I have a few standard intel ones floating round.
