Hi Geekzoners,

Looking at doing a DIY energy monitor system and before ordering a Current Sensor / CT sensor from overseas and taking weeks to arrive. Does anyone have one that is unused and willing to part with it? Looking for three SCT-013-100 sensors

NZ store has one for $20 but think that is way over priced

Also any recommendations for alternatives or proven Arduino or Raspberry Pi projects to look at

edit: sensor model

You'd be better served by just using a current sensing Shelly? Great app and reporting along with IoT integration if needed.

Which plans are you using for those sensors?

My plans were to measure the energy usage at my home.

Measure mains, hot water and septic tank(used a Clampmeter to measure but seems pretty high)

xbmcnut thanks for the recommendation, it looks really good. Do you know of any other options that don't use wifi? I was planning on measuring via ethernet on raspberry pi

My last two shipments took around 2~3 weeks with COVID slowing things down.

I'm using one of the MODBUS energy meters here https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_dVaddXe for my whole house monitoring and connecting that to a USR-TCP232-410S for MODBUS to Ethernet conversion then into Home Assistant for reporting.

The kogan brand smart plugs (smarterhome) are $50 for a pack of four and they include energy monitoring in the plug.  Simple and cheap.

He wants to do 80A whole house current monitoring. A smart plug won't work for that but thanks for the tip. I'll look into those for other use case scenarios.

Did you have any issues getting an electrician to install that? Guessing the CT wouldn't be an issue, but powering the device?

No issue. Similar device to what most solar companies are installing these days. Device is self-powered by the line.

A great tutorial on install and adding to Home Assistant using ShellyForHass plugin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsjP_TlzSe4

Had to chuckle when he says "hopefully no smoke" as he flicks the main switch in the switch board/breaker box.

Is there something in a box plug and play based off the shelley thing?

I'd like to be able to monitor whole house, and individual items (I understand 2+ devices required)
