Looking for the following

1U Server - Preferably short depth but full is OK

Xeon e3-e5 V3 and up - Single or dual processor systems considered

minimum 16gb ram

No hard drive requirements so long as caddy's are present and drives can be added (i.e has a raid card etc)

Budget: Upto $2000

2U Server

Xeon E5 V4 and up - Single or dual processors considered

minimum 16gb ram

Hard drives not required, however, looking for a server with atleast 6 LFF drivebays for 3.5" SATA - Raid card is a must

Budget: Upto $2500

Preference is HP or Dell, however will consider all. Rails are a bonus but not a requirement

Must be able to ship

I've got an Intel RS2BL080 RAID card - LSI 2108/9260; 8 internal SAS 6Gb/s. It can't be used as an HBA/IT mode so I've got no use for it.

You should be able to get something well within that budget.

Last few i have received have just been wrapped a couple of times in cardboard and they survived good as gold, just making sure enough cardboard to provide the padding

An inch or so of that white packing foam(ideally the air-bubble filled stuff, not polystyrene) followed by cardboard seemed to work well enough for mine. The corners are always what needs protection. Probably take the rack ears off if you safely can - some have the power buttons on them so it's not so feasible.

You can get that stuff cheap on ebay - look around for non-ridiculous shipping:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Supermicro-X9DRL-iF-ATX-2x-E5-2650-V2-16GB-w-IPMI-3x-PCIE-3-0-8x-I-O-Shield-/353064110630

You may be able to source an old short depth supermicro case from Digicor, Compucon or Mikipro for local shipping/pickup?
