This might be a bit of an odd request. But I recently acquired a Sauna. Its a slip together cedar wood one from the early 1990's. A Finsauna to be exact. It came with a 6KW heater, but my electrican said it was pretty old, on its last legs and it did eventually blow up. He came back an said to be honest you should just buy a new one.

Im looking around, and I am a bit unsure of what to get. Any good reccomendations? I got rocks.. and its a dry sauna...

Im happy to get something second hand or new just a little unsure of what to look for.

To anyone interested remember New Zealand is currently at COVID Level 4 Alert.

This means you cannot collect this item in person. Postshops are closed so there is very low chance this item will reach you before end of lockdown.

No expernce in sauna heater, but did a quick search:

There is one used 6kW unit on trademe... Reserve is $500

https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/marketplace/home-living/outdoor-garden-conservatory/swimming-pools-spas/saunas/listing/3224566357

Or get a new one for $1700 odd

https://sauna.co.nz/product-category/sauna-heater/wall-heaters/

If the sauna came with a 6kW heater, I would guess that capacity is about right. Most of them at this size seem to be three phase (I think sauna stuff often comes from Europe where three phase is common). Looking at the circuit diagram on that trademe one there doesn't seem to be any reason that L1,L2 & L3 couldn't bridged together, and the unit operated on single phase power, but 6kW works out to 26 Amps on single phase, so you would need a 30 or 32A breaker to feed it. - Sparky might be requred to swap out your main switch for a breaker to protect the pole fuse too depending on what other load you have in the house. (if you are on a 60 / 63A pole fuse).
