Hi all,

My Tivo remote is on its way out and I saw on GZ about using plex as a tuner, sounds like a good idea to me as my wide struggles and using one remote to do everything again sounds good to her. ( we have Plex on Apple tv )

So before I go an buy one online does anyone have one that they want to dispose of?

Cheers

John

I'm pretty sure I had a Hauppauge which did both S and T. I just need to find it in the garage.

Edit. Sorry the boss said I wasn’t supposed to give it away. Apologies. :(

Got another HD HomeRun Connect HDHR4-2DT available if you want it. Th reason we don't use it any more is because changing channels is too slow.

Have you heard of TVheadend or Xteve?

https://synology.wordpress.com/2017/08/16/configure-nz-freeview-iptv-through-tvheadend-plex/

You can get most NZ broadcast channels via IPTV now, in Plex.

Throw in a vote for xteve. works great, and plex has the ability to detect commercials and either delete them or mark them for skipping (which is what I mainly do).

Link to Windows setup guide - combined with the one above for Synology, you should be good to go :)

For anybody who wants an IP tuner one option is to simply build your own - with some $10 USB tuners and mumudvb you can have a unicast & multicast stream of every Freeview channel which can sit on your home network and be accessible from any device.
