Found an i7 in my stores, but dont have a suitable motherboard - anyone have one they'd let go for fair price or swap for 1155 motherboard with CPU ? :D

Last time I needed an old board (1151), I ended up going and finding a cheap fella on ebay. Might be your best bet.

Anything I say is the ramblings of an ill informed, opinionated so-and-so, and not representative of any of my past, present or future employers, and is also probably best disregarded.

People overvalue them for old junk. I got one off aliexpress when I had some old ram and a CPU and it worked great for 6 months or so.

I have an Asus P8Z77-V PRO that you are welcome to have free of charge, the only problem is I suspect there's something wrong with it as it doesn't power on for more than a couple seconds. I don't know if it's the mother board, CPU or the RAM being at fault, but I strongly suspect the mother board. If you want, you are welcome to take the whole lot (motherboard, CPU and RAM).

CYaBro: What model i7?

Its an i7 4790 - came from a dead system I was given to work on - so Im hoping it still works but 9/10 CPUs survive whatever has killed the rest of the system.

Board and CPU is what I currently use, think its a i5 3xxx ....... so going to i7 4th gen be a nice little boost for me.

The Z77 board will only work on 2nd/3rd gen CPU's, thus your existing CPU will work on the board
