Might need a bit more info OP. What games do your kids play? What did you have prior and were you happy with it?

And quite important, where are you located? I doubt you'd want to pay postage on a tower

Ahem - appreciate the posts above and apologies for the lack of info in the 1st post!

So - current machine: I5 / 16 GB Ram / GTX960 / SSD - kids currently use it for eSports and Roblox.

But I am hoping to get something a bit better in case they want to play newer, more demanding games - esp re GPU - so 1650 or 1060 upwards?

Budget prefer $500 - but can stretch to $800.

Auckland based and can pick up.

Only need the PC as we have the rest of the peripherals.

TIA.

nothing to sell, but my recent experience:

i bought my two kids two "gaming" pcs in the last 6 months.  one last x-mas, one a month ago.  both bought off trademe.

$600 xmas one was a ryzen 3200 with gtx1660ti and 16gb 3200 ram, 512gb nvme

$400 last month was a 10400f, 16GB ddr4 3200mhz ram, no gpu, ssd and hdd.  i spent $70 on a 1tb nvme to replace the hdds, and I had a spare 1650 laying around for the gpu.

xmas one was a great deal, got lucky there, the $400 i had been looking for a while (2-3 months), trying to get close to the $600 xmas one, i got close a few times, but had a fixed budget.

it can take a little while to find one, but around $600 for a decent mid level gaming pc for the kids is defintely doable.

Personally I never touch dell/hp etc, the upgrades can be too restrictive with their nonstandard parts.

I might have something if you're interested.

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X

16GB CL16 G.Skill RAM

1TB Crucial P3 NVME M.2 SSD

Nvidia EVGA FTW2 GTX 1080

I'm replacing my CPU this weekend and have enough parts laying around to build this system.

Asking $900.

I'm down in Wellington so would need to ship it to you.

Ahh we are using CleanDNS to kid-safe the internet.  Bet that is it.  I wonder why it has only caused an issue recently.
