Is there anyone in central / west Auckland that has a fishing magnet that I can borrow or buy?

We live near a stream and some muppets have thrown stuff in there that I want to clear out, I cant see an easy way to get down there so a strong magnet should do the job as I am assuming that the metal is ferrous.

Cheers

John

If you’re not successful with getting a magnet, how about using a grappling hook? Might even be a better bet in the first place.

Something like this , this or this.

Sadly no the grappling hook would not work, these are a metal box, I dont know what they are from, but I thought if I could get them out today I could put them in the bin which goes tomorrow.

Maybe talk to the Council. They should keep waterways clear and you pay them to do so. I know it will take to the next decade to get them to do it.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Already have, they are not really interested, quite pathetic to be honest.

These are only four small canisters about the size of 3kg flour, a metal plate and a frying pan ( that one might be non ferries )

The magnets inside hard drives are very strong, in case you have any old drives hanging around

You can get them from Jaycar too, guess it  depends on how much you feel like spending on being a good citizen :)

Would be interesting to see what’s in them - treasure, body parts, old magnets …?

OT: I noticed there's a magnet in my iPhone behind the top of the screen. It pushes away my telescopic screw picker magnet quite strongly. The iPhone compass didn't work very well after that, but seems to have re-calibrated itself after a day.

Wanted to borrow or buy - helicopter with rescue harness.

Is there anyone in central / west Auckland that has a helicopter with a rescue harness that I can borrow or buy? One of our users SATTV is stuck in a stream.

No I did not get anything out,

We went to feed the eels a couple of nights ago after some rain and some muppet has thrown in an old office chair. I will possibly use a hook for that one ( or my kayak anchor )

I am going to order some aagnets off ali express this weekend.
